Jose Mourinho: Didier Drogba’s Return To Chelsea FC Seamless
Jose Mourinho has hailed Didier Drogba’s seamless return to Chelsea FC after two years in Turkey and China and said it “looks like [Drogba] never left the club.” Drogba left Chelsea after winning the Champions League in 2012 and appeared to be on the verge of retirement when he moved to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua. Instead Drogba still had his competitive juices flowing and wanted to return to the Champions Leauge which he was able to do with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Jose Mourinho on Drogba’s return:
"“First of all when he came, it looks like he never left the club. It was so normal, nothing new at all because he knows everybody and everybody knows him. He was ever present even when he wasn’t here. Chelsea belonged to him, even in the last two years when he was away playing in a Galatasaray and Shanghai shirt. So it looks like he just went for a short holiday and came back, so everything is normal. But yes, I think we need him. We need him as a player for our squad to be the way I like. I like my squad with different qualities, not just as football players but also in terms of personalities. I like to have players with different personalities. So as a player and person, Didier is somebody we need to be strong.”Source: Sky Sports"
With the addition of Drogba, Chelsea and Mourinho now have two big and physical strikers who can bully opposing defenses. Mourinho teams have always operated best when they have a single striker capable of taking over games and that is what Chelsea was missing last season. Drogba also adds another veteran presence to a young dressing room. His big game experience and credentials will do wonders as he can act as Mourinho’s representative in the locker room and take Chelsea’s young stars under his wing.
