Cech has been Chelsea number one for a decade. He has established himself as one of the top keepers in the world and has never looked remotely threatened to relinquish his spot between the posts. Until this season. Thibaut Courtois’ return from a 3 year loan spell with Atlético Madrid. Courtois has shown he is also a world class keeper and at only 22 could be a mainstay at the Bridge for years to come.

He is extremely unlikely to take Cech’s #1 jersey, instead he will probably be given #13. It will be fascinating to see how Mourinho deals with these two phenomenal shot stoppers, with neither wanting to sit on the bench. A possible scenario is playing Courtois in the league and Cech in the cup competitions. It will be a strange sight when Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper isn’t wearing the number 1, evoking memories of Carlo Cudicini making the #23 his own.

Cech or Courtois? Who would you choose?
