Hannover 96 Deny Interest In Chelsea FC’s Marko Marin
Chelsea FC midfielder Marko Marin is back at Stamford Bridge after spending last season on loan at Spanish club Sevilla. Marin had a solid season with the Spanish side and even won the Europa League trophy making him the first ever player to win the trophy two years in a row with two different clubs. After a good season in Spain, Marin was likely hoping to make a permanent move to another club or to find a place in the Chelsea first team.

Unfortunately for Marko Marin, he is likely fifth or sixth in the winger pecking order behind Eden Hazard, Willian, Andre Schurrle, Victor Moses, and perhaps even Oscar should he play there. There are also several players on loan and in the academy that Chelsea would rather see on the field than a finished product in Marin who is not quite up to snuff.
The latest rumors tie Marin to Bundesliga club Hannover 96 but they have gone out of their way to say that they are not interested in him. This could be the usual smokescreen thrown up by a team to hide their interest or a player or it could be genuine. Hannover general manager Dirk Dufner said, “We have been looking to sign attack-minded players this summer and we are out to sign further players. We have no interest in Marko Marin, and we will not pick up an interest in Marko Marin.”
Well so much for those rumors. It is rare for a director or GM to make comments regarding a specific player but Dufner made sure to end the speculation that they would add Marin. The winger still reportedly has a high profile in his native Germany and he can certainly still be a useful player to the right club. Unfortunately for him that right club is not Chelsea and is simply a matter of time before he is loaned out or sold to another club this summer.
