Chelsea FC Goalkeepers – Thibaut Courtois or Petr Cech?

Beeney is another young English keeper that has been contracted to Chelsea since 2007. He has been around with the First Team during much of this preseason and you would think has a future at the club.

With Blackman being enlisted into more First Team duties last season, Beeney got his opportunity with the Under 21’s and was hugely influential in their double winning season. It’s important to remember he is only 18. Don’t let Courtois’ incredible development at such a young age fool you, goalkeepers often reach their peak, both physically and mentally, later than outfield players.

Beeney, like Blackman, is Home Grown and Club Trained and could conceivably be used in a similar way to Blackman in being registered in the First Team squads. However, I think Blackman has the edge in that regard and Beeney should be given as much game time as possible as first choice for the Under 21’s.
