Cesc Fabregas might have a some enemies at his old clubs Arsenal and Barcelona but even they know that Chelsea’s new signing has some quality on the ball that very few can replicate. His Serbian midfield partner, Nemanja Matic, knows this very well and made it no secret of how he thinks it will help the club this season.

Matic had nothing but praise for the Spanish maestro, “Cesc [Fabregas] is a great player. He has played for Arsenal and Barcelona – so he has experience of the big clubs.” Matic’s confidence in Fabregas is enough to believe that Chelsea can go on and win the elusive treble, “He has big quality with the ball and he is a great player who will help us a lot. A player like that can win everything.”
Much has changed since Matic first arrived in 2009 and one can confidently say that the midfield is stronger than it ever was. “The way we play has changed. This Chelsea is a much younger team but we still know we can do a lot and we improve everyday with the manager. This team has a good future.” Matic knows that with Fabregas helping him in the middle the chances of winning are much greater, “I am very confident for the new season. Chelsea are in good shape and we want to win the title.”
Not only does Cesc Fabregas have an uncanny ability to distribute the ball but his awareness is great and it’s very rare to see him lose the ball. Retaining the ball is perhaps his best attribute and something that Matic believes will help Chelsea win. “Last season was very difficult for us. In some if I can some ‘small’ games we lost points at home. That decided our season. This year we will try not to make the same mistakes.” Well Fabregas looks to be the man to unlock compact defenses and help win those “small” games.
