Chelsea FC youngster Billy Clifford has terminated his contract with the club through mutual consent. The parties have decided to go their separate ways as Clifford was deemed surplus to requirements and he was searching for regular first team football. The 21 year old Clifford has been with Chelsea for 13 years and has quite literally grown up in the Chelsea academy.

Billy Clifford, as is the new fashion, announced his departure from the club via his verified Twitter account. He says very clearly in his tweets that he left in search of first team football which he certainly would not receive at Stamford Bridge at the moment. Clifford has spent the past two seasons on loan at three clubs Royal Antwerp, Yeovil Town, and Colchester United but none of the loan spells were particularly successful.
Here is the message Billy Clifford sent out to his followers on Twitter:
1/3 Cancellation of my contract at Chelsea Fc was to go and find regular first team football. Would like to take the time to thank all

3/3 Chelsea will always be in my heart 💙

Clifford is a fine young player who is an attacking midfielder that is equally adept at playing with his right or left foot. Unfortunately for him, the club has more than its fair share of young and dynamic attacking midfielders so he has decided to cut his losses and find a new career path elsewhere. There should be no reason for a Championship club not to snatch him up and add them to their squad as he certainly has the quality to make an impact at that level. Best of luck to you, Billy.
