Jamie Redknapp Picks Chelsea FC To Win Premier League

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has made Chelsea FC his pick to win the Premier League title after narrowly missing out on the prize last season. The Blues came agonizingly close to winning it last season after suffering some embarrassing defeats and draws at so-called “small clubs”. With the addition of players with a winning pedigree like Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, and Didier Drogba, Chelsea hope to have the firepower to beat compact defenses and claim the Premier League once more.

Here is the excerpt from Jamie Redknapp’s Premier League preview picking Chelsea to win it all:

"Chelsea are my team to beat this year. They should have won it last year. Jose Mourinho made a lot of excuses about them not being ready. They were, they just blew it. They lost a lot of poor games; they lost to Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa – matches where they should be picking up points. Now they’ve added Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, two players who will improve them. They needed a goal-scoring striker last season and Costa will provide that, while Fabregas will chip in as well, and provide plenty of assists. Chelsea have no excuses now, they have the squad to win the title. And I think they will.Key man: Diego Costa. He’ll have a lot of suspensions but will be a right handful.Source: Sky Sports"

Redknapp’s reasoning is that Diego Costa will add the goal-scoring punch at the striker position that Chelsea sorely lacked last season. Redknapp, along with several other pundits, believed that Chelsea would have won the title with a world class striker and given the lack of production from Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba, and Fernando Torres that is very sound reasoning. Chelsea fans and Jose Mourinho may have a bone or two to pick with Jamie Redknapp but this is one of the rare instances where they will all agree.
