John Terry: Didier Drogba Is Still A Nightmare To Play Against

Chelsea FC captain John Terry told Chelsea TV that Didier Drogba is still hungry for success and that he is “still a nightmare to play against”. Drogba returned after two years spent in China and Turkey but to the unfamiliar role of being a substitute. Despite his advanced age for a striker, John Terry believes that Drogba can still be a big-time player for Chelsea.

Terry said about the striker, “Didier’s still the same. He’s been a nightmare to play against in training. He’s still physically strong, sharp and hungry as well.” Terry also lauded Drogba’s leadership ability and the impact that he can have on all the new youngsters in the Chelsea squad. Terry said, “It’s important Didier is here because he brings that mentality of wanting to win every day and that rubs off on people like Kurt Zouma and the other young players he’s playing against.”

Terry also embraced the fact that he and other Chelsea stalwarts will one day leave the club and said that “The club are evolving. One day we’ll all be gone. It’s time for these players to continue to keep winning trophies for this club and keep the fans and owner happy.” He also discussed the future of the club and the new additions and said, “If I was a Chelsea fan I’d be impressed from what I have seen so far from Diego, Cesc, Filipe and all the boys that have come in like Kurt as well.”

After the last few preseason matches, Chelsea fans have been able to see what this new generation of Chelsea players can do and they are impressive. Diego Costa’s goal in the Soma Charity Tournament was world class as was Cesc Fabregas’s mazy run against Ferencvaros. We have yet to see what Didier Drogba is still capable of but if John Terry says that the legendary striker still has what it takes then we will certainly take his word for it.
