Should Chelsea FC Buy Loic Remy?
Chelsea FC have been linked to French striker Loic Remy after Didier Drogba suffered an injury in the friendly against Hungarian side Ferencvaros. Some reports claim that Drogba will miss several months while others claim that he will only miss a few weeks.
Whatever the case may be for Drogba’s injury, Chelsea is thin at striker and the options after Diego Costa are not very appealing. There is the inconsistent and misfiring Fernando Torres who seems to take 10 steps back for every step forward. Then there is the unknown commodity of Drogba who is certainly not as effective as he once was. The simple fact is that Drogba is 36 years old and may not be able to contribute to the Chelsea attack the way he used to.
If Chelsea do indeed sign Loic Remy then he has the chance to become the second option at striker for the Blues. He is an established scorer in the Premier League and has proven so with both teams he has played for. Remy scored six goals in 14 matches with QPR and scored 14 goals in 27 matches with Newcastle United. Though he has not lit up the scoring charts, a goal every other match is a much better return than any striker wearing Chelsea blue last season.
There are concerns with Loic Remy’s attitude and his willingness to be a second option but he appeared ready to play second fiddle to Daniel Sturridge at Liverpool before talks broke down. Remy is certainly not the future of the striker position at Chelsea but he would be a fantastic depth signing for a club that always has a congested fixture schedule.
What do you think Chelsea should do? Should they take a chance on Loic Remy or stick with what they already have?
