Diego Costa was asked why he joined Chelsea and he said that “joining was an easy decision” because Chelsea has “some of the best players in the world, the best manager in the world, and it is a club with great history.” Costa went on to say that he wants “to improve, not only as a player but as an individual, and I believe this is the perfect place for me to do that.” He also said something that will warm the hearts of Chelsea fans, “That’s the reason I chose Chelsea and why I want to defend this shirt.”
Diego Costa on fighting for every trophy:
"“I hate losing. I don’t want to lose and I do everything I can to make sure my team doesn’t lose. They say the English game is more physical than in Spain, so hopefully I’ll do well. We have an outstanding squad and, if we can all stick together, pull in the same direction and remain focused, I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t be going to the final stages and fighting for every trophy available.”Source: ESPNFC.com"
Chelsea have had issues with their strikers these last two years, mainly because they are not the ruthless scoring machines that Drogba was. Sameul Eto’o brought some ruthlessness but he was not one to bully opposing defenders in to submission. Diego Costa is exactly the type of player that Chelsea needs and is the type of striker that Mourinho’s teams have become known for.
He will add a level of physicality that only Didier Drogba brought to the Chelsea shirt but also has the technical ability that Drogba lacked at his age. Suspensions may be an issue as defenders will look to wind him up but you have to take the bad with the tremendous amount of good.
