Chelsea is good. I mean, really, really good. Isn’t that enough? No? Fine.
So, our excellent admin @khaled74 asked me to write a match report and I told him, even though I went to the pub, that I would. So, we’ve clearly established the 2014-2015 Chelsea is good, right?
I mean, have you seen this? https://vine.co/v/M3DV3hBKF2O
Oh, you want another angle? Fine: https://vine.co/v/M3DVBK6Fugi
Watch that. Watch it over and over. Had they not been wearing Chelsea kits, you would’ve said “Netherlands 1972” or maybe “Barcelona 2010-11.” That’s how pretty that play was.
Sure, as a Chelsea fan, I may be prone to hyperbole and it may have been ‘only’ Burnley, but look at that play again.
Yes, Fàbregas makes a mind-blowing pass and it must be celebrated, but also, check out the run by Schürrle. He and Fàbregas have played together for, less than, the time you’ve sipped that Moscow Mule you’re enjoying and they are THAT in rhythm. That pass is sublime, but it is impossible without both (1) Fàbregas knowing he’s making that run and (2) Schürrle knowing the pass is on its way without him being offside. Both were true.
Hey BPL, good luck.
So, again, Chelsea is good.
The defense didn’t pitch a shutout, which allows us the opportunity to nitpick the goal. Re-watching the play, it was a well designed corner where Burnley played and offside trap, that Chelsea didn’t actually execute well, perfectly. All of Chelsea’s defenders are moving forward, hoping to create a counter, while Burnley is ready to pounce. And, after a bit of a scrum, the ball fell to Scott Arfield and he put it past newly installed #1 Thibaut Courtois.
All that did was awake a sleeping, and angry, giant. After John Cena Burnley put the STF on Brock Chelsea Lesnar… it was F5 and ballgame. Honestly, it was that ugly.
As a recap for the game as a whole, Chelsea was awesome. Arsenal, Liverpool, and United fans will mention that we “only” played Burnley, but anyone who watched that match in full will tell you…
Chelsea is good.
