Striker Patrick Bamford is one of Chelsea FC’s most exciting young prospects and many fans were backing him to become the club’s third striker this season. Unfortunately for the Bamford fanboys that is unlikely to happen as the club will look to send him on loan to a Championship or Premier League club.

After two successful loan spells last season, the first at League One side MK Dons and the second at Championship side Derby County, Patrick Bamford has become one of the most sought after youngsters in the Chelsea camp. Many clubs from the Championship including Reading and Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested. Wolverhampton manager Kenny Jackett admitted as such and told the media that they have inquired about the striker.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett on Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford:

"“We’ve enquired about him in the past but I don’t know currently what’s happening with him and where he’s going. I don’t know what his options are and where he stands in Chelsea’s pecking order. At one stage it seemed he was quite high, but is he falling down it now? We’re not necessarily in regular touch with regard to where he’s going next, if he goes anywhere.”Source: Sky Sports"

Patrick Bamford has proven to be a prolific striker at the lower league and Championship level in England but is still in need of more development. If he is able to go to a place where the manager rates him highly and will play him regularly, then he should jump at the opportunity.

A stint at Wolverhampton may not be as glamorous as playing for Chelsea but it is part of the journey to the first team. Bamford’s English nationality is also an advantage for him as Chelsea is looking to rebuild their English contingent after losing Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard this summer. The youngster has the backing of Chelsea brass and is a favorite of Jose Mourinho so he could be well on his way to a long career at Stamford Bridge.
