After spending last season on loan with Championship club Middlesbrough and impressing, many believed that Nathan Chalobah was ready for a step up to the Premier League. Well this morning the club confirmed just that. The Blues will be sending Chalobah on loan to new boys Burnley until January 2nd.

Burnley has shown themselves to be a decent side so far in the season and have a point from two matches with Premier League big guns. They acquitted themselves well against Chelsea and even took an early lead before conceding three when the Blues were really clicking. The following week they held Manchester United to a draw at Turf Moor but then again these days it is not much of an accomplishment.

"Nathaniel Chalobah has today joined Burnley on loan until 2 January. The move gives the 19-year-old his first opportunity to gain top-flight first-team loan experience.Chalobah captained Chelsea to FA Youth Cup glory in 2012, and on the international stage he is in the England Under-21 squad competing during the current international break and was a player used by Gareth Southgate in the Toulon Tournament in May.Source: ChelseaFC.com"

Nathan Chalobah is just 19 years old but he is one of the most exciting prospects in the Chelsea camp. He is capable of playing in central defense or central midfield. His future seems more headed towards a central midfield role because of his size and passing vision.

He may also get a chance to impress in the Premier League for Chelsea as his loan was timed to end just as John Obi Mikel departs for the African Cup of Nations. Nathan Chalobah will be a few pegs down the depth chart but given the busy fixture schedule Chelsea usually experiences in the second half of the season he may get his chance.
