One of the few drawbacks of having a squad full of senior internationals is that they have commitments to the national teams during the FIFA imposed breaks. A vast majority of Chelsea FC’s squad is being called out on international duty and here is the list of the players who will be in action on Wednesday, September 3rd.

Gary Cahill is the only Chelsea representative in Roy Hodgson’s England squad who will be facing Norway in a friendly. The only other senior England player on the Chelsea squad is John Terry and he has been retired from international football for some time now. Luckily for Gary, and for Chelsea, there is not much travel as he will be playing in the friendly confines of Wembley Stadium. He will then be heading to face Switzerland for a Euro 2016 qualifier on Monday.
World Cup champion Andre Schurrle is also playing in a friendly today with the German national squad. Ironically enough the friendly is a rematch of the World Cup Final against Argentina in which the Chelsea midfielder provided the winning assist to Bayern Munich man Mario Gotze. Thankfully there will be no extra time this around. He will then head to Dortmund to play a Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland on Sunday.
Goalkeeper Petr Cech is also in action against one of the surprise teams of the World Cup in the United States in the Czech Republic city of Prague. He will then face Netherlands in another Euro 2016 qualifier on Tuesday which also takes place in Prague.
Aside from the Euro 2016 qualifiers the friendly matches are entirely meaningless. The only thing that fans of these players hope is that they return from these breaks unscathed and that certainly applies to these Chelsea boys.
