The English Premier League season may just be 3 weeks old, however we have our first break in the action following the closing of the transfer window last Monday. Chelsea FC, being a major European power, have many first team players playing in matches for their home nation’s senior teams on this break.

Chelsea FC Players by National Team Selection

International Friendlies/Euro 2016 Qualifiers:
Andre Schurrle – Germany
Gary Cahill – England
Pertr Cech – Czech Republic
Ramires, Oscar, Willian, Filipe Luis – Brazil
Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas, Cesar Azpilicueta – Spain
Loic Remy – France
Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Matic – Serbia
Thbault Courtois, Thorgan Hazard (On Loan-Borussia Mönchengladbach) – Belgium
Mario Pasalic (On Loan, Elche) – Croatia

African Cup of Nations Qualifiers:
John Mikel Obi, Kenneth Omeru – Nigeria
Mohamed Salah – Egypt
Christian Atsu (On Loan-Everton) – Ghana
Bertrand Traore (On Loan-Vitesse) – Burkina Faso

Noticeably absent from this list: Eden Hazard, of Belgium. The Belgian midfielder was replaced by his younger brother for the Red Devils, as Eden has a bit of a slight knock. This is the perfect time for Hazard to have such a knock, as Chelsea will not play in a game for around 2 weeks; giving the magisterial attacker some well deserved rest of the busy season ahead.

For England against Norway, our own Gary Cahill wore the captains armband for the Three Lions for the first time in the 1-0 win at Wembley. After Wayne Rooney slotted in what turned to be the winning penalty, he was subbed off and handed the band to Cahill. Cahill was replaced with 7 minutes to play and chose ‘keeper Joe Hart to take up the armband.

Andre Schurrle scored for Germany in their first match since winning the World Cup, however the Germans lost 4-2 to Argentina in a rematch of that final match from Brazil.

Petr Cech and the Czech Republic were beaten 1-0 by the United states, Alejandro Bedoya scoring the lone goal off a rebound given up by Cech.

The rest of the senior players will play their matches throughout the week, and we look forward to them returning to Stamford Bridge happy and healthy.
