One of the more refreshing aspects of the Fernando Torres loan to AC Milan is how diplomatic the striker has been about the move. It was one that he clearly desired but it seems that Torres has gone out of his way to praise the fans and staff of Chelsea FC every chance that he gets.

In his latest comments when asked about Jose Mourinho, Fernando Torres was short and to the point but he did mention how much he had learned from the manager. The striker would not be blamed if he did not have the best of relationships with Mouriho after the manager criticized him and the other strikers often last year. He even had to suffer the indignity of sitting on the bench while Andre Schurrle was selected ahead of him as a lone striker.
Instead Fernando Torres, being the model professional that he is, had this to say: “I had a professional relationship with him. I learned so much. When I told him that I was going to Milan he wished me good luck, and he told me about the passion for football that is here. I wish him all the best, as he has done with me.”
“I had a professional relationship with him. I learned so much”
Mourinho of course is familiar with the football culture in Milan after having spent several seasons with AC Milan’s neighbors Inter Milan. He had a combative relationship with the Italian media but was beloved by the fans after delivering a historic treble.
Fernando Torres may not reach those same heights in Italian football but he is going to play for one of the most passionate fanbases in world football. Some fans were not in favor of the move but hopefully they will support their new striker the way they supported Mario Balotelli.
