One of the few drawbacks of having a squad full of senior internationals is that they have commitments to the national teams during the FIFA imposed breaks. A vast majority of Chelsea FC’s squad is being called out on international duty for friendlies and tournament qualifiers.
Here is the list of the Chelsea FC players who will be in action in Euro 2016 qualifiers on Monday, September 8th:
England and Gary Cahill are set to face Switzerland in their first Euro 2016 qualifier of the campaign and it will be a tough test for Roy Hodgson and the boys. The Three Lions are missing leading scorer and striker Daniel Sturridge due to a thigh injury and Chelsea FC defender Gary Cahill also picked up an injury in England’s friendly win against Norway.
Cahill missed training the past few days but according to Roy Hodgson it was simply a precaution. The England centerback should be fit for the clash against Switzerland and he will certainly be needed for the match. England is in the midst of a change in identity and veterans like Gary Cahill are crucial to that change being a success.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Cesc Fabregas are set for a much easier task as they get ready to face minnows Macedonia tomorrow in their Euro 2016 qualifier. Both players are in line to start while unfortunately Diego Costa has pulled out of the squad. The Chelsea forward suffered a hamstring injury but it is reportedly not serious.
Spain midfielder David Silva said about Diego Costa’s injury, “we will try to manage . Our success comes from keeping hold of the ball and that will continue.” With players like Azpilicueta and Fabregas in the squad Spain should have no trouble with a minnow like Macedonia, even if it is on the road.
