Jose Mourinho Wanted Demba Ba To Stay At Chelsea FC
This season’s striker corps at Chelsea FC is a definite upgrade over last season’s but apparently Jose Mourinho wanted one member of it to stay. According to some comments made by Demba Ba to The Daily Star, Mourinho wanted the Senegal striker to stick around for another season.
After he scored several important goals for Chelsea at the tail end of last season it is no surprise that Jose Mourinho wanted Ba to stay on at Chelsea as he provided a different dimension to the attack. His late winner against PSG was tremendous as was the famous goal at Anfield after Steven Gerrard’s slip. Ba was also less of an egomaniac than Samuel Eto’o and always displayed better body language than Fernando Torres.

Despite scoring and starting late in the season and being wanted by Mourinho, Demba Ba decided it was time for him to move on to another club. He said of his reasons to move, “It’s hard when you are always on the bench, but you just have to keep your head up and work hard. I could have stayed because I spoke to Jose and he was impressed with the end of the season had. He told me I would have a better position this season, but i just wanted to go and enjoy myself.”
Demba Ba deserves no blame for wanting to move on from Chelsea. He wanted to go somewhere where he can be the number one striker and he gave his all while at Stamford Bridge. Ba grumbled a bit after he made his move to Besiktas but was a model citizen during his time at the club.
He is off to a fine start with three goals in four games and looks to be every bit the striker the Istanbul club was looking for. It is a shame that it did not work out quite the way Demba Ba would have liked with Chelsea but he made the most of his time there and that is an accomplishment all its own.
