Chelsea FC host Swansea City in a Barclay’s Premier League match at Stamford Bridge that has become an clash between two teams at the top of the table. One of these teams was expected to be here, Chelsea FC has been picked by many as a favorite to win the Premier League. Swansea City, however are a bit of a surprise.
Following an impressive 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford to start the season, then wins against Burnley and West Brom, the Swans are currently tied with Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
Thanks to that brilliant start, Swansea manager Gary Monk was named the Premier League manager of the month for August, while Chelsea FC’s Diego Costa was named the Player of the month.
These two teams have had some tense meetings in the last few seasons, including the infamous clash at the Liberty Stadium in the 2012 Capital One Cup that saw Eden Hazard sent off for allegedly kicking a Welsh ball boy, however Chelsea FC have won all 3 matches against Swansea City contested in London.
Chelsea FC have been leaning on new signing Diego Costa in the first 3 matches of the season, and the Brazilian born Spaniard has been up to task, scoring 4 goals in his first 3 matches in England. New signing Cesc Fabregas has also made a stunning impact since his return to the Premier League.
Chelsea FC have not lost to Swansea City in league play since 1981, and the Blues will surely look to continue that run Saturday. Jose Mourinho should have more or less a full team to choose from, and the Chelsea FC supporters will be excited for another chance to cheer on the Blues after a 2 week international break.
Player News:
Chelsea FC leading scorer Diego Costa has a hamstring injury, but the manager has stated that the player may still be able to face the Swans, he will be assessed prior to the match. Costa withdrew from the Spain squad during the international break.
This could be the first time Chelsea FC supporters see new striker signing Loic Remy, should Costa not be fit to start. Eden Hazard also missed the international matches Belgium had scheduled with an injury, however his was very slight and he should be fit to start vs Swansea.
