This new contract will also hopefully scare off some of the supposed suitors sniffing around Eden Hazard. Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid have long been rumored to be interested with the latter supposedly looking at Eden Hazard as the long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
With five years left on his contract once this deal is signed, if Real Madrid want Eden Hazard they will have to pay yet another world record fee to pry him away from Stamford Bridge. They have done so with Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Gareth Bale but of course all three wanted to make the move to the Bernabeu. Eden Hazard on the other hand seems to be happy and settled at Chelsea.
"“Eden Hazard is on the verge of is signing a new contract with Chelsea worth a staggering £200,000 a week. Talks with the Chelsea forward’s lawyer are at an advanced stage and the club are hoping to conclude negotiations with the Belgian international within the next few weeks. Hazard’s extended deal, which will be worth around £10million to the forward over the next five seasons, will also be a bitter blow to long-term suitors Paris St Germain.”Source: Daily Mail"
After signing Thibaut Courtois to a long-term extension, this deal for Eden Hazard is the next logical step for Jose Mourinho and the Chelsea brass. They are looking to tie down their young core players and are going about doing so the right way. By paying them what they deserve and showing that the club is committed to them for the long run. Now hurry up and sign on the dotted line Eden!
