Diego Costa: If They Provoke Me I’ll Score Against Them

Diego Costa has already been a lightning rod for Chelsea FC this season after just playing in five games for the Blues. The big striker has a reputation for having a bit of a temper and some opponents have tried to provoke him in to doing something rash.

More from Chelsea FC News

The first was Everton’s Seamus Coleman who succeeded in getting Diego Costa booked and Tim Howard also got in Costa’s face to try and provoke him as well. It did not help that Everton manager took the time to try and lecture Diego Costa on respect in his post-game presser rather than speak about his own players’ unseemly behavior.

Against Swansea, Gylfi Sigurdsson also tried to provoke the striker and even faked an injury in an attempt to get Diego Costa booked. Coincidentally Diego Costa had great days against those defenses with two goals against Everton and a hat-trick against Swansea. Maybe teams should keep trying to push the striker so he can continue that scoring streak.

Diego Costa spoke about teams trying to provoke him and said, “You’ve got to know how to manage these situations. The truth is I’m fairly relaxed. If they provoke me, I’ll score against them. The reality is, for the moment, that I haven’t had any really physical battles. Things have been going well. So far, I’m enjoying it.”

The best part was his parting shot at those teams who tried to rough him up by saying he has yet to have any real physical battles yet. He is in for a tough day against one of the Premier League’s best centerbacks in Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany when they face off on Sunday. The way things have been going recently, maybe it is Kompany who should be worried about facing Diego Costa.
