Chelsea FC: No Division Between Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech

When Jose Mourinho made the decision to choose Thibaut Courtois as his number one goalkeeper over the incumbent Petr Cech, some believed that it would create a division within the squad. Obviously those folks did not know Petr Cech very well as he has proven time and time again to be a true professional.

Thibaut Courtois spoke to Chelsea FC’s official website and discussed his relationship with Cech. Courtois said that he is learning from the veteran and that the environment in training is ideal because they have such a good relationship.

"“Petr Cech is still a great goalkeeper and it’s a tough battle for the first spot. At the moment I’m playing and I’m trying to do as best as I can, working hard in training and in the games to keep on playing.”“I remember I had other years with other goalkeepers where the relationship was not good and we didn’t speak in training, but here it’s really great. That’s nice because goalkeepers work a lot together in training so it’s important you get on well.”“With Petr it’s really good; we have a laugh in training. We can talk about an exercise and both give our opinion. We talk about things. He’s a very smart guy too, so it’s really helpful to have conversations with him. The relationship is very good and it’s nice to train in that environment.”-Thibaut CourtoisSource: ChelseaFC.com"

This news from Thibaut Courtois comes as no surprise. Petr Cech has proven this season that he is willing to put the interests of Chelsea first and that of course is nothing new. Courtois has played well this season but has been hard done by some poor defensive efforts and is finding it hard to keep a clean sheet.

If Cech were the type of player to cause division then this could be his chance to make a case for himself. Instead he is helping Thibaut Courtois in training and waiting for his chance. He may not be at Chelsea for long but he is doing everything he can to maintain his legacy as a great keeper and an even better teammate.
