Why Chelsea FC Will Defeat Bolton Wanderers

facebooktwitterreddit

Chelsea FC have drawn Bolton Wanderers in their first match of the Capital One Cup, to be played tomorrow evening at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have not won the competition since the 2006/07 season, however the League Cup may hold some special meaning for Jose Mourinho, as it was the very first trophy he won as manager of Chelsea FC in 2003/04.

The Blues will play Championship side Bolton, who have provided some competition for the Blues in previous renditions of this tournament. With Chelsea FC promising to rotate its squad, given the numerous commitments across domestic and European tournaments, the side from Bolton may have a chance to knocking off the Premier League leaders.

However, there is one key reason why Chelsea are favored and should come away with the victory.

First and foremost: The quality of the squad. Chelsea’s starting XI are some of the best in the world, and the players making up the bench and reserves aren’t too far behind in some cases. Against a lower league side like Bolton, the Chelsea reserves that get a chance to start should take advantage of their academy training and look to outclass the lower level team. Even without Eden Hazard or Diego Costa, the Blues should have enough firepower in the team to beat the Wanderers.

Bolton are 21st in the Championship, sitting just above the relegation zone, so Chelsea should be able to pick their side apart, given the chance.

Chelsea FC Team News:
Ramires will miss the match through injury. The Brazilian was removed from the Manchester City match, and will not feature against Bolton.
