Jose Mourinho: I Have No Relationship With Cristiano Ronaldo

One of the more ridiculous rumors to come out in the Spanish media has been that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo would be on his way back to the Premier League but with Chelsea FC and not his old club Manchester United. Cristiano Ronaldo has often spoke wistfully of his time at Old Trafford but some of the Spanish newspapers have claimed that Chelsea will jump in a bidding war for the Portuguese star.

Jose Mourinho has already dismissed these reports as ridiculous and insisted that Chelsea will play no part in Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the Premier League. The pair share an agent but Mourinho says that there is no relationship between him and Cristiano Ronaldo that could see him convince the forward to join him at Chelsea. The move would also go against everything Mourinho has worked for towards aligning with UEFA’s FFP regulations.

"“The relationship does not exist. He plays for Real Madrid and I’m at Chelsea. We do not often pass each other on the street. The relationship doesn’t exist, it’s just a memory. I remember the good and the not so good. I remember that he is a goal machine, he helped me to become a champion, to win the cup and the Super Cup.He probably also helped him and each of us to make history in winning the league with 100 points against the best Barcelona side in history. Cristiano Ronaldo gives me great memories and I wish him all the best in his career, for his country and for his club, because when I go to a club I go with a sense of belonging and wish my former players continued success.”-Jose MourinhoSource: AS"

While the image of Cristiano Ronaldo blazing up and down the Stamford Bridge pitch in a Chelsea shirt is certainly delightful, it just does not make any real sense from a financial or even emotional point of view. Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted in the past that he has no relationship with Mourinho and the manager simply confirmed it with his comments. I guess we will have to make due with adding Cristiano Ronaldo to Chelsea on FIFA and letting our imaginations run wild.
