As a reward for defeating Norwich City in the third round of the Capital One Cup, Shrewsbury Town get the chance to host Chelsea FC at the New Meadow ground. The League Two side’s ground has a capacity under 10,000 but it will be packed to the brim when the Premier League table toppers make the trip in late October. Manager Mickey Mellon told Sky Sports that he was delighted that his side get to face Chelsea and that his players “deserve a big tie, especially at home”.

More from Chelsea FC News

"“Obviously, we’re delighted with the draw and we’re all really excited. I think it’s reward for how the boys have done in the previous three games that they deserved a big tie, especially at home. I don’t think they come much bigger than Chelsea so everybody seems really excited about it.“We’ve got six really massive ‘bread-and-butter’ games in between now and that Chelsea game. What we are going to try and do is use the energy that will obviously be about the place to get a little bit more than possible out of the lads for these massive six games before we even think about Chelsea. We know all about Chelsea and how fantastic the players are that are there, a terrific manager, and when that comes around we’ll be very excited about it and go and have a right good go, and see what happens.”-Mickey MellonSource: Here Is The City"

All of this is admirable from the Shrewsbury Town manager but we all know what he must be thinking, “holy crap we have to play Chelsea”. This should be a straightforward tie but as we have seen so far in the Capital One Cup, nothing is as easy at it might look on paper. The key for Chelsea will be to match the effort of the Shrewsbury Town players and put the match to bed early to give the youngsters a chance at some match minutes.
