Fans of both the United States Men’s National Team and Chelsea FC will see a familiar face in Saturday’s match in goal for Aston Villa. Current USMNT number one Brad Guzan has been Aston Villa’s number one since 2012 and he has established himself as one of the better keepers in the Premier League. Guzan told the Aston Villa official website that he believes his counterpart Thibaut Courtois however is one of the best five keepers in the world.

Guzan was asked about the young Belgian and he said that he knows how he feels to take over for a club legend and that “it’s a great feeling when you eventually establish yourself as No.1”. He went on at length about Thibaut Courtois and praised him for all that he has accomplished at such a young age.
Brad Guzan on Thibaut Courtois:
"“Thibaut Courtois has gone to Spain, not knowing the language and league, and gone on to achieve individual and team accolades. Now he has come back and established himself as No. 1 at Chelsea. Fair play to him.“Thibaut’s resume is outstanding. His accolades for the past few seasons at Atletico [Madrid] speak for itself. With Belgium too. He’s only 22 so these things are unbelievable. He’s a top, top keeper and someone Chelsea sees their future with.“He’s someone who I believe is one of the top five goalkeepers in the world, but Petr [Cech] is a top, top goalkeeper and a top, top guy too. I chatted to him a few weeks ago when USA played the Czech Republic.”Source: AVFC.co.uk"
It was clear that Thibaut Courtois was developing from a good prospect to one of the the best players at his position in recent years and clearly the world of football has taken notice. Guzan is not the first to praise the young Belgian and will not be the last and hopefully Thibaut Courtois can prove to be worthy of the Aston Villa keeper’s praise come game time.
