Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany recently told Sky Sports he is not worried about Chelsea FC’s impressive start to the Premier League campaign this year. Kompany insists he is not stressing over the table at the moment.
The Belgian international said that in each of the years Manchester City won the league, they were behind by several points towards the 2nd half of the season and still came back and claimed the league title as their own.
"“I can’t really say that personally I’m looking too much at Chelsea. When we won the league first time (in 2012), we were nine points behind with six or seven games left to play. Last year Arsenal were leading by six or seven points and ahead of everyone in February, but it ended up being between Liverpool and us. There are so many reasons why I’m not really focusing on getting back at Chelsea.”-Vincent KompanySky Sports News"
Manchester City overcame a dogged Aston Villa defense who held out for 80 minutes but were on done by two tremendous individual efforts by Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero. The win for City put just two points behind Chelsea at second in the table. A victory will be crucial tomorrow against Arsenal for Chelsea as a win over the Gunners will put the Blues 5 points clear.
Both Manchester City and Chelsea have come up so far this season as very dominant forces, so even from this early in the season, every single match has become an important one. Neither side can afford to slip up. With the Manchester City captain seeming very confident in his side, it is safe to say that Chelsea need to continue to perform week in and week out to make sure they stay on top of the table.
