Arsene Wenger Will Not Be Punished By FA For Shove

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was involved in a little scrum on the touchline with Jose Mourinho when his side came to Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Wenger put his hands on Mourinho and gave him a shove supposedly because he was trying to check on his injured player Alexis Sanchez and Mourinho was in his way. The FA has decided not to punish Arsene Wenger for the shove which is frankly a very surprising move.

The FA said that because the referee did not punish either manager that they will take no further action against Arsene Wenger. Many people expected at least a one match suspension but instead Wenger is allowed to continue performing his duties with no interruption. There is not much precedence for this but Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew was suspended for 7 matches last season for lightly headbutting an opposing player.

"Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is unlikely to face any disciplinary action from the Football Association for pushing Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in a touchline bust-up during Sunday’s Premier League match at Stamford Bridge, according to Press Association Sport. The managers had to be separated by fourth official Jon Moss before they were called over by referee Martin Atkinson, who warned that any further transgressions would see them sent to the stands. Because the referee dealt with the matter as he saw it during the match, Press Association Sport understands that the FA is unlikely to open a disciplinary case unless the officials’ report highlights something extraordinary.Source: ESPN FC"

To put it plain and simple, this is unacceptable. It is one thing for two players to get in to a shoving match but for a manager to do so it is a different story. Arsene Wenger has long pretended to be a pillar of integrity compared to the swarthy Mourinho but he has lost his supposed moral high ground after this incident and it is unbelievable that he will face no punishment from football’s governing body.
