Jose Mourinho: I Turned Down PSG Twice

Jose Mourinho has been asked a number of times this season about his commitment to Chelsea FC and whether he is in it for the long term. He has said multiple times this year that he is committed to Chelsea for the long term and that he will only leave the club if Roman Abramovich wants him to go. Mourinho revealed during the international break that he has also turned down PSG not once but twice since their recent takeover by Qatari investors.

The Chelsea manager claims that he even knew about the “project” at PSG before the rest of us and that he was PSG’s first choice ahead of Carlo Ancelotti. Mourinho decided to stay at Real Madrid at that time instead of making the move to Paris. He also claims that he was approached once again in 2013 after Ancelotti left to Real Madrid but he chose to make the move to Chelsea FC instead.

"“I knew about the project (at PSG) even before it began. I was Leonardo’s first choice (ahead of Ancelotti). And when Carlo left (in 2013), they made me another offer. I have rejected them twice. I thought a lot about it. But the first time, there was Real Madrid and the second time there was Chelsea. I want to stay at Chelsea for as many years as possible. I have no other project than managing at Chelsea where I want to be.”Source: Sky Sports"

This comes as little surprise to us as PSG was clearly targeting one of the best managers in the world in Jose Mourinho and got one in Carlo Ancelotti. They still have a good manager in Laurent Blanc but he is no Mourinho or Ancelotti. Jose Mourinho has proven time and time again this season that he is a changed man and does not want to be a journeyman manager anymore. He seems content at Chelsea FC and will stay for as long as he is wanted by the ownership.
