ChelseaFC have just announced that they will be signing 13 year old French goalkeeper, Nicolas Tié, in the year 2017 when the young shot-stopper reaches the age of 16. Nicolas Tié is currently playing at french club Poitiers FC,  and at 13 years of age, is already over 6 feet tall. Chelsea managed to clear off interest from Arsenal and Manchester City in the signing of Tié.

Though he is unable to sign with the Blues until he is 16, Tié is allowed to visit the club’s Cobham training complex located in Surrey during holidays.

Chelsea FC recruiter Guy Hillion is the one responsible for spotting Nicolas Tié. Hillion is is the same recruiter who helped us with the signings of Gael Kakuta and Eden Hazard so his record is pretty good so far as landing Hazard far outweighs any of the trouble that we had with Kakuta. It is also worth noting that many believed that Gael Kakuta was the next big thing in world football so that signing appeared to be a major coup for Chelsea FC when it first happened.

Because he is just 13 years old, it is very possible that the young prospect could end up being a part of the same goal keeping situation we are currently in with Courtois and Cech. Nicolas Tié does not have much of a chance to break in to the first team until he is in his 20s and Thibaut Courtois will be in his early 30s. All players have to be replaced eventually but let us not worry too much about what will happen with our goalkeeping situation in 10 years for a little while.
