Accoroding to reports swirling around the internet, Besiktas and Chelsea FC have reached a partnership agreement similar to the one the club already has with Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem. If the reports are indeed true then this is fantastic news as it gives Chelsea FC another reliable place to send players out on loan. Turkish leagues do have limits on foreign players in the squads but if a prospect is showing enough promise then he can be sent on loan there in what would be a mutually beneficial move for both parties.
"Chelsea and Beşiktaş have reached a partnership agreement according to club board member Erdal Torunoğulları.The arrangement will involve close co-operation between the first teams and academies, training support and joint scouting projects. The agreement will also see potential loan moves in the near future for Chelsea academy players to gain experience at Beşiktaş.Beşiktaş will model their academy on Chelsea and the Premier League outfit will offer expertise in developing the youth setup. Black Eagles board member Erdal Torunoğulları recently completed a trip to the Chelsea academy to complete the agreement. Beşiktaş have focused on signing young players and promoting academy players over recent years.Source: TurkishFootball.com"
This deal is another example of Chelsea FC changing the loan game in world football. Other clubs often send out their prospects somewhat blindly to other clubs around the world but Chelsea FC has taken the extra step of establishing relationships with the clubs they send the players to. By no means does that ensure that a player will have a successful loan spell somewhere but it does give the loan club added incentive to give the player for minutes on the pitch. Let’s hope these reports are true and that the partnership can go in to effect as early as this January.
