Crystal Palace was never going to be an easy match for Jose Mourinho and his Chelsea FC team. It was this match in March that effectively finished any chance of Chelsea FC winning the Premier League as Tony Pulis’ Palace team out fought and out-thought a willing, if disjointed Chelsea FC team.
This season, Palace didn’t have Pulis in charge and Chelsea FC had a team that now had the missing pieces to go out and play Palace at their own game, even without star striker Diego Costa, finally having to admit defeat and rest his niggling hamstring.
With Manchester City convincingly beating a Tottenham side that look to be missing both the quality and the belief to challenge for a top six place, let alone a top four position, the Blues had to keep the pressure on those chasing from behind and bag three points here, ahead of a challenging Champions League match on Tuesday, and the match of the season so-far, a trip to Old Trafford to take on a resurgent Manchester United.
In the end it was an emphatic win for Mourinho and his Chelsea FC team, who have the uncanny knack of being able to make winning look so eloquent and orchestrated even artistic at times, yet always feel the need to let the opposition have one last go at coming back.
Frustratingly sublime…
But win they did and in doing so, we learnt a little bit more about Jose Mourinho’s ‘Class of 2014’ so hit next to begin…
