Diego Costa Out For Chelsea FC Vs Maribor
The Chelsea FC supporters were dealt a sad bit of news when Jose Mourinho mentioned star striker Diego Costa would not be fit for our UEFA Champions League match against Slovenian side Maribor.
Manager Jose Mourinho made his announcment at the pre-match press conference where he also credited our opponents for being undefeated so far in Champions League play, winning 8 matches since the playoff stages to make it to the group stage.
"Maribor have played eight matches in the Champions League [this season including qualifiers] with zero defeats. At Celtic they didn’t lose, at Sporting they didn’t lose and at Schalke they didn’t lose, and when I studied them I understood why they didn’t lose- Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho"
Diego Costa, Ramires, Andre Schurrle and John Obi Mikel have all been ruled out for the match as well, with Ramires and Schurrle mostly being dropped for lack of match fitness. Diego Costa’s hamstring problem progressed from almost injury to injury, per the manager, and he will not play tomorrow, but Mourinho would not officially rule him out for this weekends clash against Manchester United.
Last year’s youth team Dominic Solanke was added to the roster today, he may feature in the match as he was named to the team as a substitute. He was on the bench against Crystal Palace at the weekend and would have made an appearance had the scoreline stayed at 2-0.
Chelsea FC Team News:
As stated before, 4 players are out injured, including Diego Costa and Andre Schurrle. Didier Drogba is cleared to play following a substitute appearance against Palace. Mikel and Ramires are also out for the Blues.
