Chelsea FC loanee and current AC Milan striker Fernando Torres told Eurosport the only club in Spain he would play for is his boyhood club Atletico Madrid. Fernando Torres came up through the Atletico academy and signed his first professional contract with the club when he was 15. He would make his debut for the first team just a year later and he would score the first of many goals just weeks later.

When Fernando Torres made his debut, Atletico Madrid was still toiling in the La Liga second division. They narrowly missed promotion in his debut season but they were able to secure it in his second season. Since making that leap from the second division, Atletico Madrid have gone on to become one of the powerhouse clubs in Spain despite a much smaller budget than their rivals Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
"“I had the chance to go to other clubs but Milan showed they really wanted me. I’m learning how my teammates play so I can find the right time to move. I could only play for Atletico. Barca and Real Madrid are not in front of Los Colchoneros. Atletico have reached a good level, step by step, and I might have had something to do with it. I’m proud to have led Atleti to the Primera.”Source: Eurosport"
While the thought of Fernando Torres making a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona is hard to imagine but there was a time when he was one of the most feared strikers in the planet. He made the move from Atletico Madrid to Liverpool because Atletico has a habit of developing world class strikers and selling them off but they do not sell to their direct rivals. It is nice to hear that had Barcelona or Real Madrid come calling for Fernando Torres he would have turned them down out of loyalty for his boyhood club.
