Didier Drogba Still Vital For Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC holding midfielder Nemanja Matic commended Didier Drogba for his efforts against Manchester United in the Blues’ Premier League clash on Sunday night. The Serb believes that Drogba is still a vital player for Chelsea FC and said that Drogba “was very important” in the match and that he is “going to be important for us” in the future.

Drogba has shown his worth in two straight matches with a goal in each one that were near replicas of his efforts in the 2012 Champions League Final. The first was penalty against NK Maribor and the second of course was the only goal Chelsea FC scored against Manchester United at the weekend.

Nemanja Matic on Didier Drogba’s importance for the Chelsea FC squad:

"“He was very important for us, he kept every ball and was very strong. He was one of our most important players against Manchester United. He’s always confident. Everybody saw that he played well and his going to be important for us. He has already scored one in the Champions League and now he has another here.Like every player in the team, he is getting more confidence and we will see what happens in the future. He is very important for the young players because what we’re doing now he has done it first. He is good mentally, he talks to the young players and makes things easier for them and for me also.”Source: Daily Star"

While Didier Drogba is certainly not the player he once was, he has shown that he can still deliver important goals. He came close several times against Schalke and could have had another against Manchester United in the first half. That sharpness will come over the course of the season and the big Ivorian may yet score another vital goal for Chelsea FC this season.
