Chelsea FC’s start striker has been sidelined since returning back to his club from international duty with Spain and Blues boss Jose Mourinho believes he knows the cause of all the Diego Costa injury problems, laying the blame firmly at the feet of Spanish national coach Vicente del Bosque.
Costa has finally started full training again with the rest of the Chelsea squad after having to stay overnight in hospital last week, and remained isolated from the rest of the Chelsea team for fear of the infection spreading.
"“The virus is fine. It was hard, he had to go to the hospital and obviously it doesn’t help him to recover from his injury. But he didn’t play on Sunday because of the injury, not because of the virus,” explained Mourinho.“Diego has the hamstring because he played two matches in three days when he was not with us.”"
So, with the former Atletico Madrid man back in contention for the Queens Park Rangers match at home on Saturday, it’s to be hoped that Costa’s hamstring issue is now a distant memory, but Mourinho still has major concerns for the next international break in November, stating: “But he still has the national team in November!”
It’s a key period for Chelsea and Mourinho will not want any further Diego Costa injury concerns as the Blues face another tough match away at Anfield against a Liverpool squad that may well be stuttering right now, but just like Manchester United, are more than capable of turning it on for when Chelsea come to town.
Chelsea will also want to capitalise on the opportunity to take three points from lower level opponents in West Brom, Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur at ‘The Bridge’ on December 3rd, all of which come after the break.
