The signing of the 27 year old Spaniard Cesc Fabregas has been one of the best things to happen to Chelsea FC’s midfield in recent years. In only 10 premier league matches, Fabregas has managed to earn himself 9 assists, an unbelievable start for playing for a team that is new to him.

Fellow midfielder Oscar told the London Evening Standard how much Cesc Fabregas has completely revolutionized Chelsea, turning them into a whole new team. Chelsea FC certainly  have been playing their best football in quite some time as they have not lost a match yet in the entire season and have trailed only three times this season, against QPR, Swansea City, and this week against Maribor.

"“Cesc helps the team so much and not just with the assists. In a game, he helps everyone, with beautiful passes. He has come in this year and played so well and I like playing together with him. Last year the team was strong but this year the team plays so well and plays every game to win, and this is important for us.”Source: London Evening Standard"

Last season Chelsea FC had trouble finding that assist or final ball to truly unlock a stingy defense. Teams would sit back against the Blues and let them come in waves and knock in ineffective cross after another. Chelsea FC fans bemoaned the loss of Juan Mata who was often the key to unlocking teams that sat back and it appeared the Blues had no direct replacement but they certainly do now.

In Cesc Fabregas Jose Mourinho has precisely the type of midfielder he has been looking for. He plays smart passes, controls the tempo of the match, and of course tracks back and plays defense. He leads the Premier League with nine assists in ten appearances and has been the key figure in central midfield alongside Nemanja Matic.

Fabregas has developed a wonderful understanding with Diego Costa and Eden Hazard already and we are only a third of the way through the season. Imagine how good that connection will be after a few more months of Fabregas pulling the strings in midfield.
