Thibaut Courtois: “We Don’t Have The Title In The Bag”

During the international break Thibaut Courtois decided to speak to the press concerning the Premier League. Courtois spoke about Chelsea’s title chances by saying that “We don’t have the title in the bag”. Despite Chelsea came out of the gates with speed “there is a still a long way to win the title.”

Chelsea FC are “working game by game.’  and by saying so we can infer that Thibaut Courtois is more focused on each game as it comes than the end goal. His end goal may be to win the title, but he has declared that his team has to work hard and train hard for each game as it comes if they want to meet that goal. The Belgian shotstopper also admits that ‘the Premier League is very difficult.” and that despite their title-rivals recent failures to succeed it does not mean that they are champions elect, even if Wenger, the “Specialist in Failure”, thinks otherwise.

The Stamford Bridge side may be currently in a comfortable spot in the table, but even if they are getting results it does not mean that they are doing it in a comfortable manner. Against SK Maribor away the Blues struggled and they also struggled vs QPR and even Liverpool at the start of the match. The former Atletico Madrid number-one knows that his side can do better and that they are working hard to improve.

The Blues upcoming Premier League matches feature West Brom at home, Sunderland away, and Tottenham Hotspur at home.  The Blues should come away with at least seven points if they want to remain at the top of table and with high hopes of finishing there come the end of the season.

Courtois is correct in thinking as he has in assuming that the title in not in his teams possession yet. Hopefully this motivates not only him but his teammates as well and forces them to continue with this stellar run of form in which they have remained unbeaten so far this season.
