Chelsea FC midfielder Cesc Fabregas was fantastic in the Champions League against Schalke 04 and was given a perfect rating by ESPN FC for his performance. While he did not get on the scoresheet for a goal, Fabregas did notch yet another assist with his cross for the opener scored by John Terry. Many Chelsea FC fans were worried about who would take on set piece responsibility after Frank Lampard’s departure and Fabregas has done so brilliantly.

Just days after declaring that the first 30 minutes of the match against West Brom was the most enjoyable football he has played in his career, Cesc Fabregas was treated to another delightful display. Chelsea FC played a beautiful and free flowing style of football away from home the likes of which we have not seen in a long time.
Fabregas was a major reason why they were able to put on such a show but he also more than pulled his weight defensively. He must be taking notes from Nemanja Matic because Fabregas was every bit the defensive destroyer as his Serbian counterpart.
ESPN FC on Fabregas’s performance against Schalke:
"MF Cesc Fabregas, 10 — A flawless performance from the Spaniard, who shone the brightest among Chelsea’s glittering constellation. Was at the hub of everything positive that the team did and recaptured the threat that had been less evident in recent weeks after having been man-marked by several Premier League teams.Source: ESPN FC"
There were a great deal of skeptical fans when the rumors began spreading about Cesc Fabregas moving to Chelsea FC. There was even more skeptics who believed that he would not be a good fit with the Blues or that he would be a disappointment because according to them he underperformed at FC Barcelona.

Well so much for all that. It is hard to pick out a single player in the Chelsea midfield that has truly excelled because they have all been fantastic. However in the case of Fabregas, we were not quite sure what we were going to get. With Matic we knew what he was capable of from the second half of last season and the same goes for Eden Hazard because of his body of work.
As for Fabregas, we knew that he was a fantastic player at Arsenal but he was misused with Barcelona and thus was not as influential of a player. Mourinho decided to hand him the keys to the show and gave him the freedom of the middle of the park and it has paid dividends. The Blues reportedly paid £27 million for the midfielder and Fabregas has proved to be worth every cent of that transfer fee.
