Chelsea FC Host Tottenham Hotspur in London Derby

Rivalry Renewed

Chelsea FC sits on top of the Premier League table, still unbeaten on the season, as Tottenham Hotspur come to Stamford Bridge for a midweek fixture.

The rivalry between Chelsea FC and North London side Tottenham Hotspur is one of the most acrimonious in England. Even against other teams, Chelsea supporters routinely sing “We hate Tottenham” and have various songs aimed at taking down Spurs. There is nothing like a passionate London derby, and when Chelsea and Spurs take the pitch at Stamford Bridge, it is usually a close, tense affair.Chelsea have been flying high this season, holding a 6 point advantage on top of the league at the moment. Spurs, meanwhile, have struggled a bit and sit in 7th place, 13 points off the top spot but only 2 points off of a coveted 4th place finish for the Champions League.

The Blues have been led by the free scoring antics of Diego Costa, the midfield magic of Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard, and a strong defensive unit anchored by stalwart John Terry. If Costa could get on the scoresheet against Spurs, he would just further endear himself to the fans who love nothing more than a scrapper who scores against Spurs.(Quite the alliteration there, I know). Unfortunately however, that isn’t going to be possible just yet. Costa picked up his 5th yellow against Sunderland this weekend, meaning the striker will miss the match against Tottenham. Spurs fans will be happy, but not as happy as their defenders.

Chelsea FC Team News

Diego Costa is out through suspension, but manager Jose Mourinho has

plenty of faith

in his other strikers. Didier Drogba and Loic Remy are both healthy and fit, one of them will start and both my see action. Personally, I hope Remy starts, bangs in a goal or two, then Drogba comes on to mop up and adds another, just for fun. (Again, we all hate Spurs). Diego’s suspension will be beneficial to get him some rest too, ahead of a busy fixture list that sees us play 8 matches in December. Everyone else has been given a clean bill of health, aside from Nathan Ake with that injury from the international break.

Predicted Chelsea FC Starting XI

I think we will see the same lineup as we have been, only with Remy starting in place of the suspended Costa.

————————–Courtois———————–

—Azpilicueta——-Cahill——-JT———Ivanovic
——————-Matic————Fabregas———–
—-Willian—————Oscar———-Hazard——
—————————Remy————————–

Predicted Result:

Chelsea FC 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur.

I’d like to see Oscar or Eden Hazard score, then Drogba come on for a late goal to put it away. Regardless of the scoreline, I see Chelsea winning over their rivals, and keeping the gap at the top to 6 points minimum.
