Willian And Kevin De Bruyne Just Outside Of Four Four Two’s Top 100 Footballers

Chelsea FC midfielder Willian and former midfielder Kevin De Bruyne were deemed not quite good enough to make Four Four Two’s Top 100 footballer’s list. The pair were listed in the “Must Do Better” category, highlighting their tremendous unfulfilled potential. They are very different in terms of style of play as Willian relies most on his pace and athleticism while De Bruyne is a more technical player.

This is what Four Four Two had to say about Willian:

"Largely overshadowed by the likes of Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Oscar at Chelsea, Willian is yet to prove he’s a £32 million player at Stamford Bridge. Clearly the Brazilian is well-liked by both Jose Mourinho and national team boss Dunga, but he’s not often trusted to start the Blues’ biggest games – see sub appearances against Liverpool and Arsenal in recent months. Ultimately he needs to add more goals and assists to his game: he’s got just two of each this season in all competitions."

They said precisely what everyone has been thinking about Willian, we simply need to see more from the Brazilian. The Blues paid a pretty penny for his services and he has yet to show them that he was worth the price. Although the song about him hating Tottenham sung by supporters might be worth £10 million alone.

Willian has begun to show more aggression and put in a man of the match performance against Schalke and nearly scored the winner against Sunderland. He is becoming more comfortable in a Chelsea FC shirt and that is evident in his play in recent weeks.

Their thoughts on Kevin De Bruyne:

"Finally at the right club, it’s likely the Belgian will kick on in 2015 and continue his excellent form with the Wolves. Nine assists in 13 Bundesliga games this season looks to be a sign of things to come for a player who didn’t cut the mustard at Chelsea but looks right at home back in the Bundesliga."

The question Chelsea fans have to ask after seeing De Bruyne play so well for Wolfsburg is, was he not given the right chance at Chelsea or was he unable to handle the pressure of playing at a big club? He has been fantastic for Wolfsburg but showing up and playing well for a Bundesliga side with few expectations is radically different from turning up for one of the biggest clubs in the world. However De Bruyne also performed well for Belgium at the World Cup and there is no bigger stage than that in world football. Perhaps the answer lies somewhere in between along with the fact that he did not want to play second fiddle to anyone. He seems to be happy at Wolfsburg and the Blues turned a profit with his sale so no harm done.

Next up we will reveal which Chelsa FC players made the Four Four Two Top 100!
