Loic Remy Confident He Can Be Counted On By Jose Mourinho

Chelsea FC striker Loic Remy scored against Tottenham Hotspur on his first appearance after a long injury layoff and is confident that he can be called upon at any time to perform. That has certainly been the case as the Frenchman has a tremendous goals to minutes ratio and has scored three goals in eight appearances, with only three of them coming as a starter.

Loic Remy also provides a different tactical option for Jose Mourinho as he is more of a pacey striker than the target front men in Didier Drogba and Diego Costa. He is also equally adept at playing out wide on the wings so he can operate as a second striker as well. This versatility and confidence would make him a first choice or second choice at striker on most clubs but unfortunately for Loic Remy he has two very in form strikers ahead of him.

Loic Remy on his confidence and scoring against Tottenham:

"“I felt very happy after this goal. When you’re a striker you want to score every game. The opportunity was there because Diego wasn’t involved. Didier played well again. For me it’s important. I took my chance and scored this goal. I can give him (Mourinho) another opportunity and he can count on me any time he wants.”“Because I was injured, it was good for the confidence for me to come in and score. I was very happy and very proud but it was the work of all the team that made me score. I feel really proud to be on the bench but of course I want to play, that is why I work hard during training sessions.“But we have three good strikers and the others show me a good example, they are very professional and for me it is a real pleasure to play with this kind of player. I try to increase my level and improve and it is really good to work with them, and every time the manager wants to use me, I try to do my best. There are a lot of games coming up so I am not worried about staying on the bench. We are in all competitions so we need everybody.”Source: Sky Sports"

Despite the long injury layoff and limited minutes, Loic Remy has been able to find the back of the net very consistently. He does not seem to be the type of striker that needs many minutes to get in to his scoring groove and that could make him a vital piece of Chelsea’s title run. Remy can start matches in the domestic cups and can also come in off the bench as an impact sub.

At a transfer fee of around £10.5 million, Loic Remy has already proven to be another shrewd move in the transfer market by Jose Mourinho and Michael Emenalo. Instead of perhaps relying on Fernando Torres to come off the bench, the Blues have a dangerous and in form striker who understands his role within the team.

He knows that Drogba will not be around forever and this is his season to impress Mourinho and the Chelsea brass. If he continues to score at the rate he has been, he will undoubtedly be the second choice striker for Chelsea next season and play considerably more for one of the best clubs in the world.
