David Luiz: “I Hope to Play Chelsea FC In The Champions League Final”

In 2011, a shaggy haired defender traveled to Stamford Bridge from Benfica and immediately became one of Chelsea FC’s most beloved players. David Luiz, the Brazilian center back, was known for his comedic personality, both on and off the field. The ‘Geezer’, who completed a 50 million pound move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the summer recently said that he hoped his PSG squad would win the Champions League, but also meet Chelsea FC in the final.

David Luiz was quoted in the Daily Mail about wanting to face Chelsea FC:

"“I want PSG to win the Champions League. Chelsea are having a very good season with very good players. I hope to play against them in the final, it would be amazing!”“They proved their class. These are key recruits – with them, the penny dropped and the puzzle is in place.  Cesc with his rhythm, his aggressiveness and experience in the Champions League and Diego with his composure in front of goal and its effectiveness – they had an immediate impact.”"

I personally agree with We Aint Got No History writer Graham MacAree, I don’t want to play PSG in the final for two reasons: a) Seeing an unhappy David Luiz just ruins anyone’s day and b) I’m sure we’re all a little bit afraid of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. We were lucky enough not to have to face Zlatan in the second leg and were instead treated to an out of form and slightly tentative Edinson Cavani.

If you recall, Cavani had his fair share of chances to score against the Chelsea FC defense but he could not capitalize. A striker of Ibrahimovic’s quality would surely have buried at least one of those wayward chances. There is also the emotional lift that David Luiz would get from facing his former teammates, but as we saw in the World Cup semifinal, sometimes too much emotion from the Brazilian can be a very bad thing.
