Patrick Bamford Hopes To Extend Middlesbrough Loan Deal
Chelsea FC loanee Patrick Bamford is having a fantastic season at Championship side Middlesbrough and he is hoping that his loan will be extended until the end of the season. The youngster has been on an excellent run and is in the midst of a tremendous goalscoring run as he has notched five goals in his last six matches. He is also tied for second in the club’s goalscoring charts with six goals in the league.

The most intriguing aspect of Patrick Bamford is that he does not have any outstanding physical characteristics but is an excellent finisher. He is not particularly fast or strong but he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net with either foot. His goals come from a variety of angles and finishes and as long as the goals keep coming, the rest of his development will come along accordingly.
Patrick Bamford spoke to the official Middlesbrough site about repaying his manager’s confidence in him:
"“I had a meeting with the Gaffer and said I needed to play. I scored against Brentford then I was in and out of the team. The meeting was after the international break, just after the Brighton game and said to him ‘I want to play, that’s why I came here and I can only show you what I can do if I’m playing’.“Since then he’s put his belief in me, I’ve played the games and proved that I can do it when I’m playing. As a striker it’s a confidence thing as well, you’ve seen that with Jelle against Millwall and hopefully he’ll build on those three goals he got last Saturday this weekend.”"
Bamford believes his loan will be extended but knows it is not a sure thing:
"“Things haven’t been tied up and paperwork isn’t done yet, but just before the Blackburn game, Eddie Newton from Chelsea came up to check everything was ok. Even before he (Newton) arrived, I’d sat down with the Gaffer and told him I want to stay till the end of the season, that I’m enjoying my time here and to stay would make me happy. It’s also come out that Mourinho is happy with me staying too, so now it’s just finalising the details which shouldn’t be hard.”"
Bamford has found an excellent situation at a club where the manager Aitor Karanka has a great relationship with Jose Mourinho and actually uses the players Chelsea FC sends him on loan. He starts Kenneth Omeruo in the center of his defense and last season played Nathaniel Chalobah and Josh McEachran regularly when they were under his watch.

As we have seen with many other examples, a loan may seem to be great on paper but it can often get derailed for any number of reasons. Chelsea do appear to see the wisdom of letting Bamford spend the rest of the season there so all should be done and dusted very soon and the youngster can continue scoring goals at a blistering rate.
