Fernando Torres Makes Permanent Move To AC Milan
Chelsea FC announced today that Fernando Torres has sealed a permanent move to AC Milan, the club where he has been on loan for the first half of the 2014-15 season. This moves comes in the midst of a rumored move back to his boyhood club Atletico Madrid. Rather than having Fernando Torres end his loan at AC Milan and sent to Atletico as a Chelsea FC player, this move ensures that he will be heading to Spain on loan as an AC Milan player.

The reasons why AC Milan would prefer to do this are unclear but perhaps they wanted to receive some sort of loan fee from Atletico and Chelsea did not press the issue as a gesture of good faith. This is all speculation of course but nothing would surprise us if that was indeed the case. As for FFP, Torres’s full transfer fee becomes due when the move is made official on January 5th but in the long run it will be better for the financial health of the Blues.
Here is the official statement from ChelseaFC.com regarding Fernando Torres’s move to AC Milan:
"Fernando Torres is to join AC Milan on a permanent basis. The striker moved to the San Siro on a two-year loan deal in August and on January 5 he will complete a permanent transfer to the Serie A side. Torres, 30, spent three-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge, in which time he helped Chelsea lift the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup.A World Cup-winner, Torres joined Chelsea from Liverpool in January 2011. Memorable highlights include his Champions League semi-final breakaway against Barcelona at the Nou Camp and the goal that helped beat Benfica to lift the Europa League trophy a year later.Torres continued to share in Spain’s international success while at Chelsea. He helped his country to a second successive European Championship in 2012, securing the Golden Boot in the process. In the busy 2012/13 season his 22 goals were spread over seven competitions, a club record."
So after years of underachieving as Chelsea FC player, Fernando Torres is no longer tied to the club in any way. He scored some important goals for the Blues and will be remembered forever for his goals against Barcelona and his goal in the Europa League semifinal. There was not much else to celebrate in Fernando Torres’s Chelsea FC career but at least now we can all rejoice that it has finally come to an end. Thank you for the memories Fernando and we hope that you can finally find your confidence and peace on the pitch when you return to the club that lives in your heart.
