Chelsea FC midfielder Cesc Fabregas was incorrectly booked for simulation on Sunday but he says that he will move and will not dwell on the incident. Fabregas is in the midst of one of the best seasons of his career and has been in devastating form for the Blues. He leads the Premier League in assists with 13 assists in just 18 games and has also added two goals to his tally.

With the foul on him against Southampton being ruled incorrectly as a dive, Fabregas and the Blues were denied the chance to take the lead and increase their lead at the top of the table. The bad call by the referee was compounded even further with Manchester City’s shocking draw with Burnley. That draw kept things as they were in terms of points but the Blues could be five points clear instead of just three.
As for the decision, Fabregas spoke to ChelseaFC.com about it and said “there was definitely contact. I don’t think the referee had the best game of his life but we’re all human and a bad day at the office can happen to anyone. That’s it, let’s not talk more about it, we have to talk about football”. He appears to have moved on from it and is not interested in discussing the incident any further. It has sparked some serious debate thought about referee bias and how that could impact the title race.
Fabregas is content on focusing on the future and believes that the Blues will continue to succeed if they play at the level they did in the second half. He said, “if we play like we did in the second half for the rest of the season we will have many, many moments of happiness, I’m 100 per cent sure of that. We have to perform like that. We didn’t start the game well, we know that, and maybe now we regret it a little bit but I’m impressed with the reaction”.

This is the type of response we have come to expect from a player who has proven to be a consummate professional. Fabregas came to a club that he had conflicts with and a manager that he had some public disagreements with but he has put all that behind him. He has played at a world class level and has been one of the signings of the season for the Blues. One bad call will not derail him from chasing success with Chelsea FC and lifting a trophy or two with his former enemies.
