Mohamed Salah Linked To Trio Of Clubs

Chelsea FC midfielder Mohamed Salah has endured a rough season at Stamford Bridge but he may find temporarily his way out of the club in January. The Egyptian winger has been linked with a trio of clubs both in Italy and Spain. The moves are rumored to be half-season long loan deals at each club and it may be the perfect antidote for Mohamed Salah’s struggles.

Last season when Mohamed Salah made the move from FC Basel to Chelsea, he was seen as an exciting young player that was raw but had tremendous potential. He scored two goals in 12 appearances but looked to be an exciting and pacey player that could bring a new dimension to the Chelsea attack. Unfortunately this season he has not lived up to any of those expectations and has regressed as a player.

Salah has only made seven appearances for the Blues this season and only three of them have been starts. Twice in the Capital One Cup against lower league opposition and once in the meaningless Champions League group stage finale against Sporting Lisbon. He has yet to score so far but he did assist Didier Drogba against Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup.

The three teams that he has been linked to are Inter Milan, Napoli, and Real Sociedad to join up with David Moyes. The rumors to Inter Milan are the least likely considering they just signed Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski on loan for the rest of the season. There is no restriction to keep them from loaning two players from the Premier League but they may not have the funds to afford both of their wages.

The rumors to Napoli are a bit more substantial but they suggest that Chelsea FC need to buy a replacement before they are willing to loan out Mohamed Salah. The list potential of replacements is endless but surely Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus has to be at the top of it. Real Sociedad are also supposedly in contention but there is not much evidence of that though a move to Spain would be beneficial for the youngster.

The most important thing at this point in Salah’s career is to play regular football. He was able to play two to three times a week at FC Basel and was also able to showcase his talents on the European stage in the Champions League and Europa League. He has been marginalized at Chelsea and his development has been stalled, whether that is his fault or just a consequence of not playing is yet to be seen. If he does make the move to any of these three clubs then hopefully he can find his form again once he starts playing regularly.
