Andrej Kramaric Signs With Leicester City, But Could He Still Come To Chelsea FC?
Chelsea FC target Andrej Kramaric has signed with Leicester City, but could he still become a Chelsea player? The Croatian striker has reportedly agreed to a deal with the club on a three year deal pending he receives a work permit. Considering how well he has done in the Croatian league and the fact that he has made four appearances for the national team should help him receive it with little to no issues.

The fee agreed was reportedly in the £10 million range, which is definitely something that the Blues could afford. So why would Kramaric choose to play for a club that is 19th in the Premier League over a club that is joint-top? Well the story goes that Andrej Kramaric wanted to join Chelsea but he did not want to be loaned out this season. He wanted to test himself in the Premier League but as a Chelsea player, not in another team’s shirt. He also did not want to run the risk of being bought and loaned to Vitesse Arnhem or elsewhere besides England.
So again, why would he choose to sign with Leicester City and for a relatively short length of time of just three years? Well according to Gianluca DiMarzio, Italian journalist and football insider, the deal Leicester City made with Kramaric is in “collaboration with Chelsea”. DiMarzio believes that the two clubs have already agreed on a future transfer and a predetermined fee for the Croatian striker. Apparently none of that can be put on paper because it is not allowed by FA rules so we must assume that is all based on verbal agreements.
As a struggling club facing the prospect of relegation, Leicester City may have initially balked at spending £10 million on a relatively unproven player. However if they have the backing of Chelsea and the agreement in place for the Blues to buy him at some point, they can take that risk without worrying too much about the financial consequences.
There is the chance that Kramaric absolutely lights up the Premier League and keeps up his 55 goals in 65 matches pace which sees his transfer value increase exponentially. Any smart investor will yell you that you must plan for the worst even if you hope for the best and Leicester appear to have done so in this deal.
In an ideal situation, Kramaric does in fact light up the Premier League this season and saves the Foxes from relegation. Then when Didier Drogba retires at the end of the season and joins the Chelsea staff, the Blues can pay their agreed transfer fee and bring on Kramaric as their second or third striker.

Even if Kramaric saves Leicester and stays with them for one more year, as long as the fee is the same then Chelsea can get themselves an experienced and proven striker in the Premier League without paying out the nose for him. It is truly a win-win situation for everyone involved so fingers crossed that is precisely how it works out!
