The absence of loan reports will be no more as I will start keeping you updated twice a month with the ups and downs of the Chelsea FC loanees in their respective leagues.

We start in England, where left back Ryan Bertrand helped his Southampton side pass Manchester United into 3rd place in the Premier League after a 1-0 win at Old Trafford. Bertrand has been excellent for Southampton and he is angling for a permanent move there. Stoke City action saw Victor Moses back into the lineup since mid November, but he saw no gamete as he was left on the bench. He may not be 100% fit from his injury layoff but he was key for the Potters in the first months of the season.
Tomas Kalas canceled his loan at Bundesliga side FC Köln to join Championship side Middlesbrough with Patrick Bamford and Kenneth Omeruo. He immediately saw first team action as stand-in right back and Bamford came in as a substitute in their 0-0 draw against Reading. Kalas appears to have the right back spot sown up because of injuries to the first two right backs on the squad.
Alex Davey notched his first ever professional goal, and it came right after he extended his stay at Scunthorpe. The centre back scored a chip in Scunthorpe’s FA Cup match against Chesterfield.
Todd Kane was recalled from League One side Bristol City and went back out again to join Championship side Nottingham Forest. He got his debut for the club in a 2-0 win against Lewis Baker‘s Sheffield Wednesday.
In Italy, neither Marko Marin or Marco van Ginkel saw Serie A action. Van Ginkel has been rumored to be on the verge of a return to Chelsea FC after the club saw Mark Schwarzer depart because they have another slot for a foreign player. Marin has become a forgotten man at Fiorentina and it is time for the Blues to sell him off to another club so he can resume his career.
In Spain, Mario Passaic saw a double header over the weekend as his down lost 5-0 to Barcelona but came back and earned a hard fought 2-1 win away to Athletic Bilbao.
French side Bordeaux might have a Chelsea player joining them as Nathaniel Chalobah looks to complete a move to the Ligue 1 side. The move may be nixed due to the FIFA rules counting U21 matches as official matches so we may see him loaned to a Championship or League One side.
Bertrand Traore and Christian Atsu aren’t in their respective squads, Vitesse and Everton respectively, due to their national duties for Burkina Faso and Ghana in the African Cup of Nations. They will be out for at least a week or longer depending on how far they advance in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Lucas Piazon, Thorgan Hazard, and Oriol Romeu don’t resume Bundesliga play until the end of the month. Borussia Monchengladbach are interested in bringing on Thorgan Hazard on a permanent basis but he did his best to try and quell those rumors. Perhaps Chelsea FC can sell him but with a buyback clause to give incentive for the Bundesliga club to continue his development.
