Chelsea FC returned to Barclay’s Premier League action Saturday on the road against Swansea City. Jose Mourinho will surely have told his side to not underestimate the Swans, especially playing in the comfort of their home fans. Filipe Luis and Petr Cech were both in the starting XI.

Chelsea got off to a flying start, and opened the scoring within the first minute of the game. Oscar took advantage of a poor pass, and found himself in a great position in the final third. The midfielder took a couple of touches, before sending a powerful shot past Lukasz Fabianski.
Chelsea had a chance to double their lead on 12 minutes, after some wonderful passing play created a chance inside the 18 yard box. It was Oscar who let off another shot on target, after Fabianski saved Willian had an opportunity, but blasted his shot over the bar.
Diego Costa doubled the Chelsea lead in the 20th minute, with a finish from point-blank range. With Chelsea threatening the Swansea goal nearly all game, Cesc Fabregas played in Costa, who made no mistake about the finish.
Willian almost made amends for his miss earlier, but his thunderous near post strike bounced off the post and back into play.
Chelsea would continue to pile on the misery for the home fans, with still plenty of time to go in the first half. Diego Costa got hold of a poor back pass, and found himself in the box, one on one with the goalkeeper. In what’s now expected, Costa finished calmly, making the score 3-0.
The score would balloon to 4-0 just a minute after the previous goal. Willian won the ball in midfield right after the kickoff, and found Costa. Costa played a ball for a running Oscar, who put a great shot past Fabianski.
Costa very well could have made it five just before halftime. He found himself through on goal once again, but waited for support. He found an oncoming Willian, but once again his shot went agonizingly off the frame of goal.

It’s usually not a good thing to call games early, but Swansea’s first half performance gave little evidence that they could even muster two goals, to give Chelsea a slight worry. On the other hand, even if Swansea did manage to put a couple in, they didn’t seem like they could stop the Chelsea attack either.
The first 10-15 minutes of the second half were nothing more than a formality to Chelsea. The Blues were playing carefree, and would probably try to coast through the rest of the game, without giving up any easy chances.
While Diego Costa would be denied of his chance for a hat trick after he was taken off for Loic Remy, Oscar pressed on to try and get three to his name. The Brazilian barely missed on a couple of chances during the waning moments of the game to get three to his name.
With 10 minutes to go in the game, Chelsea would grab another, this time through substitute Andre Schurrle. The Swansea defense was cut open yet again, and Schurrle was able to tap in to an empty net.
The game would finish with that same 5-0 scoreline, a thorough and deserved victory for the Blues. The win will put pressure on Manchester City, who have a big game against Arsenal tomorrow.
MOTM: Oscar – In a victory like today’s, man of the match could have gone to a number of players. Oscar bagged a brace, and showed the desire to try and get a third.
